Final result
An European high speed railway network (250-300 Km per hour) is expected to be operating by the year 2010.This transnational rail link will be the only effective alternative to motorway or air transport systems even though it starts a debate about its possible effects on the natural and historical enviroment.Nowadays choosing a railway transport system means causing the least damage to the environment;on the other hand,in EU,high speed is thought to be the best solution to the European transport system congestion.High speed railway networks will improve the welfare and create new jobs in the countries they go trough. Thanks to this new railway network, areas which were for their geographical position isolated on Europe, could be given an important role in communications.
